Morality?

Image
How can we talk on morality? It is not possible for us to set the standards for what is right and what is wrong, yet that is what we try to do every day. If one was to see into another's thoughts he would be disgusted with what he found. He would probably call that person every name under the sun, in his mind if not out loud. He would quickly conclude that this person is a hypocrite, depraved, maybe even perverted. Yet for those same private thoughts that flow through his own head he would say that they were 'understandable' or a 'mistake on his part' or because of 'human weakness'. He would easily justify his own thoughts because in himself he believes he is a decent fellow, whilst condemning somebody else for having the exact same thoughts. Here lies our conundrum. How could we, who have such a lack of morality in our own private mind possibly be a judge on what is right and what is wrong? We need to understand that the only way for morality to exist i...

Open your eyes to the devils tactics

A verse used several times on this blog is 1 Peter 5:8 ("Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"). As BAC's we should be vigilant to two things: first, vigilant towards ourselves; second; vigilant towards what is going on around us. If you read 1 Peter 5:8 you will see that the devil 'walks around like a roaring lion seeking WHOM he may devour'. We must be vigilant towards ourselves and our own personal battle with sin. We must seek God and be Holy, for God is Holy ( 1 Peter 1:16) and open our eyes to the temptation around us, staying away from it. We must also be vigilant to what is going on around us. Matthew 5 tells us that 'we are the salt of the earth, but if the salt should lose its flavour what then is it good for but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men?' ( Matthew 5:13) As BAC's we have a responsibility on this earth - to represent Christ behind enemy l...

"God is dead"

Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900) was a German philosopher famous for coining the phrase "...God is dead and we have killed Him." Atheists are constantly trying to murder God, but has anybody stopped to consider the implications of such action? The consequential problems of atheism are two-fold: God has given us a conscience to tell right from wrong. When we commit wrongs we feel guilt. If there is no God then there is no relief from our guilt. If there is no God then there is no forgiveness. The majority of modern law is based on biblical principles. The very concept of right and wrong comes from God. If there is no way to deal with our guilt for things we have done wrong, no opportunity for forgiveness and no concept of morality then the difference between right and wrong becomes distorted. Mankind will slip into a wretched depravity with no way out. Read Romans 1 . We need to be so very careful. God has given us all free-will. He is calling each and every one of u...
