The works gospel believes that you can earn your salvation. The works gospel is completely unbiblical. It is self-centered and prideful. Jesus is the finisher of the faith and only He is worthy enough to finish it. Romans 14:6 tells us, "no one is good, no not one!". Romans 3:23 tells us, "we all fall short of the glory of God." We are not good and fall way below God's standards (that being the 10 commandments), therefore we are not worthy do do any work ourselves in relation to our salvation. To think we are worthy enough to influence such heavenly matters is arrogance and an insult to Christ and what He did for us on the cross. We must trust in Christ and have faith that He, as a perfect man, was sufficient to take our punishment upon the cross. -BACChristian

John 19:30  So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,  “It is finished!”  And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. Before the moment of death, Jesus lifted up His voice and shouted "It is finished!". There is incredible significance in this phrase. Everything that needed to be done to secure salvation was done by Jesus upon the cross 2,000 years ago. Christ gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice to make payment for our sins. There is nothing for us to do except to accept Christ for who He truly is. To think that there is something we sinners could do to have an affect on our eternal life would be arrogance on our part. Only Christ was sufficient to be crucified for our sins.  Christ did EVERYTHING . The only thing for us to do is to accept God's gift of grace. To inherit what Christ has done we must believe that He is God in man form; that we fall short of the glory of God and need Christ and to repent from our Sin.  -BACChristian
