Your relationship with God; Your relationship with sin.

When a person is saved they are spiritually born again. This new self differs to the person that was before. By becoming a Christian the person has altered two relationships in their life; the first, their relationship with God; the second, their relationship with sin. If you have accepted Christ and put your trust in Him not only will you develop a relationship with him, but also your relationship with sin will change. So many people today claim to hold a relationship with God, but then a couple of years or even months down the line they fall away and return to their old ways, not giving much of a second thought to God. This is because, although they began to develop their relationship with God, they did not alter their relationship with Sin. Our Relationship with God: Ephesians 2:14 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.” There is a separation between God and us, for God cannot stand the sin that is wi...

A life with Christ

When you learn a new skill whether it be acquiring a language, learning to cook or learning to play a musical instrument, the material you use to teach you the skill, whether it is a lesson plan, a recipe or a song book containing various songs, you will probably encounter the same words at the beginning of each material. The words being; ‘beginner’; ‘intermediate’ or; ‘advanced’. We tackle each lesson based on our skill level. Once we have mastered that particular thing we will move on to something more challenging to us. What is important is that we do not attempt things that are above our current level of skill. Whilst a beginner guitarist may be very good at playing a song with four chords, he would be lost and confused if he tried to follow a fast finger picking song or a complicated classical guitar strumming pattern. Whilst a beginner cook may cook a fine fried egg, their attempt at baking a crème brulee would result in disaster.   It is important to master what we kno...

Christian hipster or a Godly square?

Do you want to be ‘hip’ or Godly? Christian’s today, specifically the younger generations, can be classed into two categories: ‘hip’ or ‘godly’. These ‘hip’ Christians are cool cats. They are so cool that if you put them in the street next to the rest of society you couldn’t tell the difference. They follow fashions, get tattoos and speak the language. The hipster’s claim they do this to be culturally relevant. They bring Jesus to the streets in a way that people can relate. By portraying Jesus as a hip, fashionable and loving ‘party-animal’, Jesus all of a sudden becomes a very attractive option to today’s society. Praise the Lord, right!? ... Wrong. First and foremost, this is blasphemy. Jesus was not a hip fashionable party animal. He was a Godly man who fulfilled the Old Testament laws and kept every single one of them – He lived a perfect life. To even claim that Jesus was interested in things such as fashion and parties is blasphemy. Christ had much more importan...

Understanding grace through Romans 1-6

The book of Romans is a coherent book that neatly encapsulates grace, both the definition and why we need it. The first 6 chapters tells us what we need to know. Romans 1: (We all know God exists and have no excuse before Him).   Paul introduces his letter with greetings, making clear that the purpose of the letter is to make its readers aware of the gospel of Christ. Romans 1 makes clear that there is a just God who hates ungodliness. We all know God exists in our hearts and that if we reject God, we cannot use the excuse of 'I did not know'. Paul explains that we are all evil in our hearts and God cannot stand it. Romans 2: (All are guilty before God and there is nothing we can do to change that) .  Paul continues on from Chapter 1, making it clear that the gentiles are guilty before God. They are storing up wrath for themselves and will be punished by God for the sins they have committed. Paul goes on; although the Jews are God's chosen people, they are just as g...
