Psalm 32: the Bit Between the Teeth.

Psalm 32:9 "be ye not as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee." This verse sums up the attitude of non christians towards christianity and religion in general. People think that being a Christian means sticking to a bunch of rules that nobody actually wants to stick to and having to use great self control in order to be able to do so. This attitude may carry some weight in relation to certain religions which are based on sticking to rules and finding favour through carrying out good works; but this kind of attitude holds no weight with true christianity and shows the lack of understanding of those who are not forgiven by Jesus and do not have the Spiritual understanding that is gained through putting your trust in Christ. (1 corinthians  2:14  but the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, beca...

What does God look like?

Image
? ? ? ? Type 'God' into Google and you get a lot of images. Most depict God as a large man in the sky with a white beard. But what does God actually look like? We know that God made us in His image, and that He has a face ( Exodus 33:20 "But He said, "You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live. ") We also know that God appeared to certain men in the Bible, such as Abraham in Genesis 18 ( Genesis 18:1 "Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day."). We have brief descriptions of His appearance and might ( Exodus 24:9-11 "Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity."). We are also told of a description of the glory of God in Ezekiel 1:28 "Like the ap...

Gospel's Explained: A righteous man's reward

Matthew 10:41: "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward." Muslims do not recognise Christ as the Lord, only as a prophet. Indeed the majority of mankind do not recognise Christ as the Lord. Some do not recognise Him at all whilst some recognise Him as 'a wise man' or 'good teacher'. I wish to mention Muslims for the fact that they see Jesus as a prophet of God rather than the Lord himself. As a result, Matthew tells us that they will not receive a righteous man's reward, but a prophet's reward. This begs the question, 'what is a righteous man's reward and what is a prophet's reward'? A righteous man's reward is eternal life in the presence of God; for only the righteous can physically be in the presence of God. It is impossible for somebody who is not righteous to be in th...
