Matthew 13: - Nail your flag to the mast

As Christians when we enter a new situation or meet new people it is important that we make a stand for what we believe right away. If we don't then it will be much more challenging for us to present the gospel and show the truth of Christ. Those people who know you best, such as family members, who have seen you grow up are often the hardest people to speak to about the Gospel. In comparison, contrary to what people say, preaching to a stranger is easier.  What is the reason for this? If we try to speak to somebody that we know well about the gospel, they are in a position to scrutinize us or remind us of past mistakes we have made and therefore it makes it harder to preach with any credibility. Whatever we say, people can bring up some personal mistake or character trait that we possess and use it to throw whatever we say back in our face.   Of course, unlike us, the Lord Jesus was perfect and nobody would be able to scrutinize Him based on his past or what He had done...

Mark 16:15 - Go

Do you have an urge to evangelize but find yourself weak at the knees when it comes to speaking up for Christ? As Christians we should all know the joy of the Lord and seek to spread that joy with others, but it is easy to become frustrated or even complacent because on most occasions that desire, no matter how strong, will be thwarted by our fears.  “I do want to speak our but what do I say?” “I do want to speak out, but what difference could I possibly make?” “I do want to speak out, but I am scared those I speak with will react badly.” “I do want to speak out, but what if they ask me a question that I don’t know the answer to?”  All of these questions can usually be generalized into two thoughts. The first; “I am scared.” The second; “I don’t know what to say”. “I am scared” Too right you are and so you should be. We have a responsibility on this earth to spread the Gospel of Christ. This is a serious responsibility and certainly not one that should be taken ...

Two Sides to Every Coin

Everybody loves them, whether you hand them out, leave them for people to find or tactfully place them around town (ATM's a personal favourite). On one side of the coin is imprinted the 10 Commandments with James 2:10 engraved around the edge ("For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all"). On the other side is written the good news of Christ with John 3:16 engraved around the edge ("For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life"). Together they make up the full gospel. We should always present the full gospel - both sides of the coin. Ephesians 2:14-18 14  For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, an...

"It is Finished!"

John 19:30  So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,  “It is finished!”  And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. Before the moment of death, Jesus lifted up His voice and shouted "It is finished!". There is incredible significance in this phrase. Everything that needed to be done to secure salvation was done by Jesus upon the cross 2,000 years ago. Christ gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice to make payment for our sins. There is nothing for us to do except to accept Christ for who He truly is. To think that there is something we sinners could do to have an affect on our eternal life would be arrogance on our part. Only Christ was sufficient to be crucified for our sins.  Christ did EVERYTHING . The only thing for us to do is to accept God's gift of grace. To inherit what Christ has done we must believe that He is God in man form; that we fall short of the glory of God and need Christ and to repent from our Sin.  -BACChristian

Evangelise

As Christians we should have a desire to tell others about the good news. For some it is a scary thought to speak out. From reading the passage below, you will see that it is more scary to not speak out than it is to speak out. Ezekiel 3:18-19  18  When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked  man  shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.  19  Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. Do not fear. God will protect you: Ezekiel 3:9  Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they   are   a rebellious house.” Isaiah 41:1 3   For I, the  Lord  your God, will hold your rig...
