Open your eyes to the devils tactics

A verse used several times on this blog is 1 Peter 5:8 ("Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"). As BAC's we should be vigilant to two things: first, vigilant towards ourselves; second; vigilant towards what is going on around us. If you read 1 Peter 5:8 you will see that the devil 'walks around like a roaring lion seeking WHOM he may devour'. We must be vigilant towards ourselves and our own personal battle with sin. We must seek God and be Holy, for God is Holy ( 1 Peter 1:16) and open our eyes to the temptation around us, staying away from it. We must also be vigilant to what is going on around us. Matthew 5 tells us that 'we are the salt of the earth, but if the salt should lose its flavour what then is it good for but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men?' ( Matthew 5:13) As BAC's we have a responsibility on this earth - to represent Christ behind enemy l...

Be Careful what you say

Common sense tells us that there is a lot to gain by staying quiet. Of course there will be times when you will be called upon to speak or must take a stand for the Lord, and in these times God promises to be with you. ( Matthew 10:18-20 “ 18  You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19  But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20  for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”) However, we should be careful as to what we say and how we say it. Passing comments, that to us seem helpful or necessary, to others can be hurtful and damaging. James 3:3 - 5 recognises the great influence and importance of words: “Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at the ships: although they are so large and are driven by fie...

Do not become too frustrated over other peoples weak faith

Whilst we are not 'of' the world we are 'in' it; and 'in' it we are for a reason. We should be salt and light to the earth - God's witnesses ( Matthew 5:13-16 ) Through our ability, as BAC's, to understand God's Word spiritually ( 1 Corinthians 2:14 ) we should take what we know and use it to teach, to correct, to exhort, to instruct ( 2 Timothy 3:16 ) both those who are naturally-minded ( John 8:43 ) and those brethren who are weak in the faith (2 Thessalonians 3:15). Yet do not become too downhearted over those who will not heed God's Word or accept it for what it says, for justice will be done in the end, whether for better or for worse. As men we have freewill; we are free to follow the foolishness of men and the wisdom of God or the wisdom; and message of God but the foolishness of men ( 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 ). If brethren refuse to believe things in the Bible, but rather believe things of the world such as science, then that is their cho...
