We are all unique. Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a purpose and plan for each one of us, " For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." There are over 6 billion people on the earth (and a lot more in time gone by) and each one of us has a unique identity with differing abilities, skills and talents and each of us are born into different cultures and circumstances. Yet, despite this seemingly world wide chaotic situation where everybody is different, for those of us who are Christians we are told:  " t here is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." ( Galatians 3:28 ). No matter how unique each person is, those of us who have accepted Christ Jesus as our saviour are one in Him, no matter who we are: big, small, old, ...

Galatians 5 Becoming Spiritual and not Carnal

Romans 8:6 "F or to be carnally minded  is  death, but to be spiritually minded  is  life and peace." There is a common misconception amongst God-believers today that we are all the 'children of God'. We are not. There are two groups on this earth; those who belong to God through Christ Jesus and those who do not belong to God and are separated from him.  If you have put your faith in Christ, then His Spirit dwells within you and you are a child of God and even equal heirs with Christ. How humbling the generosity of God the Father is, the fact that despite all the wrong we have committed, not only has He made a way for us to be saved, but He has even made a way for us to be lifted up as equal heirs to His Son Jesus Christ who died for us.  Romans 8:16-17   16 " The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,  17  and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffe...

Matthew 13: - Nail your flag to the mast

As Christians when we enter a new situation or meet new people it is important that we make a stand for what we believe right away. If we don't then it will be much more challenging for us to present the gospel and show the truth of Christ. Those people who know you best, such as family members, who have seen you grow up are often the hardest people to speak to about the Gospel. In comparison, contrary to what people say, preaching to a stranger is easier.  What is the reason for this? If we try to speak to somebody that we know well about the gospel, they are in a position to scrutinize us or remind us of past mistakes we have made and therefore it makes it harder to preach with any credibility. Whatever we say, people can bring up some personal mistake or character trait that we possess and use it to throw whatever we say back in our face.   Of course, unlike us, the Lord Jesus was perfect and nobody would be able to scrutinize Him based on his past or what He had done...

Romans 6: Sin and McDonalds

Image
Romans 3:23 states "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."  Jeremiah 17:9 states " the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?" 1 John 1:8 says "if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."  We are all sinful. Jeremiah says that our hearts are desperately wicked. We do not label ourselves "desperately wicked", but that is the reality we must accept. Not only are we sinful but we enjoy sin and the gratification it provides, albeit temporary. Hebrews 11:25 states that people will "...enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season." Romans 6:16 states: " 16  Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin  leading  to death, or of obedience  leading  to righteousness?" Romans 6 looks at the effect of putting your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. It...
