Faith like a child?

Matthew 18:3 “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus tells us that to enter the kingdom of heaven we must have 'faith like a child' in Him.

Some may interpret that as foolish blind faith. Children do not yet no what is good or bad and are likely to make foolish decisions. 'Learn from your mistakes' seems to be a good maxim for teenagers!

However Jesus is not talking about a blind leap of faith. First, faith in Christ is not blind. There is evidence pointing to Him as the true Son of God and Saviour. The bible for example, a collection of 66 books over a period of 1,500 years. All of it coincides perfectly without contradictions (yes that is right, there is an explanation for the idle babbling put forward by God-haters who claim the Bible contradicts itself). There are over 400 prophecies in the OT regarding the coming of the Saviour. Jesus Christ fulfilled every single one. Peter Stoner (Science Speaks) explains how based on the law of probabilities, the probability of Jesus fulfilling just 8 of the prophecies, just 8, is 'one tenth, to the power of 17! (that's 17 zeros!)

Having faith like a child is not blind faith. Rather it is pure. An advantage children have over adults is that they have not been corrupted by the world as much as an adult, therefore their belief in God's word is not tainted by their experiences.

Believe the word of God as it is written and put your faith in Christ today. Do not let your experiences in the world affect your faith in God. Who are we to bring our experiences to the table of God? Leave them behind in the world where they belong.
