Deception of the Modern Church

Catholicism is to be commended for their hard stance to sinful things and their attitude to those less fortunate. They stand firm in their beliefs over difficult issues such as abortion, in comparison to the Church of England, whoes favourite word these days seems to be 'compromise'.

But argubaly Catholicism is doing more harm than good by deceiving ignorant people into thinking they are saved. They do this through their heathen rituals such as repeating 'hail mary', idolotry through worshipping Mary and not solely Jesus, and deceiving people into thinking that they are able to earn salvation through confession and various pennants.

It is said that it is much harder to evangelise to Westerners than it is to people in other parts of the world. This is not because Westerners are against the Gospel more than other people, it is because they are ignorant to its message. If you go to any Catholic church there will be many people attending Mass, all seeking God. The majority of Westerners want to seek God, are curious about religion and are happy to accept salvation, and why wouldn' they be? However most do not know how to attain it due to the weak, self-centered and man-filled teachings of the church. The masses are deceieved into thinking that carrying Rosmary beads and praying to Mary are acceptable, Biblical practices. This could not be more far from the truth. This is idolotry. We do not need anything to speak to the Father except a soft heart.

But lets not allow only the Catholic church to take the blame. Protestant churches and evangelical churches are just as bad. Yes, they preach Christ which is excellent, however they have watered down their teaching so much so that they too are deceiving the masses into thinking they are saved. People are told that if they repeat a sinners prayer they will be saved, as if it is some sort of formula to follow; as if to be saved you 'get right with God', say a heartfelt prayer and then continue to live your life. God is Good, right? If that's not bad enough, the gospel itself that gets preached is man-centred. The gospel that you are likely to hear at a youth rally or church today will go something like this: 'accept Jesus Christ and you will feel fulfilled, you will always have a friend, you will have somebody to help you through your problems, you will be blessed.' This is the man-centered gospel because it is all about man. 'YOU will feel this, YOU will get this, YOU will be able to do this.' When in truth, the gospel goes something like this: 'JESUS has done this, JESUS is the almighty Son of God, JESUS has defeated sin, through JESUS you can have a personal relationship with God, as GOD intended.'

The gospel is all about Jesus, it is not all about 'you'. Through the man-centered gospel, we get people coming to Jesus because they feel emotional and want a friend. People see it as some sort of wise opportunity or personal investment that they have made. Therefore, the moment things get hard they throw religion out the window.

Through the true gospel, people realise what they have been saved from. People jump into the arms of their saviour and won't let go. When things get rocky they don't throw Jesus aside and say 'its not for me', they cling to Him even tighter! For when we are weak, then we are strong in Christ. (2 Corinthians 12:10).

There are many good churches around that are preaching the true Gospel, however sadly the big corporations and denominations that are in the public eye are no longer preaching what the Bible says. As BAC's we must be vigilant to what is being taught. As solidiers for Christ it is our responsibility to ensure that an unbias and true Gospel is preached. If we read our Word we will know what is and what is not the true message of Christ. We cannot decide for other people. People are always going to reject God. But at least let us proclaim the gospel so that people are able to make an informed decision based on correct information, and not one based on watered down and incorrect facts.

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature

2 Timothy 4:1-5
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at[a] His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry
