Focus on the Finish Line

A big fear of mine is treating grace as a common thing. As a teen I despised hypocrisy and people who said one thing when in front of the church folk and act completely different when they were with their friends. I saw how damaging it was to the faith, even to my own walk with the Lord.

Whilst the hypocrisy of other Christians will be no excuse for why we didn’t accept the Lord when we stand before God, one of the biggest stumbling blocks to those who seek God is other Christians. I have since come to terms with this issue, drawing from
1 Corinthians 9:24:

“24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”

Our walk with God is exactly that, between ourselves and God. When you run a race you look at the finish line, not at the other runners. Do not focus on those around you; focus on God. The only person you have to answer to God about is yourself.
