How is God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Are they all equal?

Image
God is one God When considering the Trinity that God is, it is imperative that we realise that there is only One God. God is not three separate Gods that then make up the Trinity. God is not made up of parts, with some more important than the other, as some people believe. No, God is one God. Deuteronomy 6:4 states, “Hear, O Israel: “The Lord our God is one Lord”. Our God is a triune God. There is only One God. But God is a Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Throughout the Bible we see each aspect of the Trinity and the different work each does. All parts of the Trinity are as equal as the other and all parts are as much God as the other. The Lord Jesus Christ is just as much God as God the Father is. The Lord Jesus Christ is God. The Holy Spirit is just as much God as the other two beings. Some people may have a hard time understanding this, but it is not illogical. To understand how God can be one and God can be three things consider an egg. Wha

Your relationship with God; Your relationship with sin.

When a person is saved they are spiritually born again. This new self differs to the person that was before. By becoming a Christian the person has altered two relationships in their life; the first, their relationship with God; the second, their relationship with sin. If you have accepted Christ and put your trust in Him not only will you develop a relationship with him, but also your relationship with sin will change. So many people today claim to hold a relationship with God, but then a couple of years or even months down the line they fall away and return to their old ways, not giving much of a second thought to God. This is because, although they began to develop their relationship with God, they did not alter their relationship with Sin. Our Relationship with God: Ephesians 2:14 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.” There is a separation between God and us, for God cannot stand the sin that is wi

Why is Jesus the Son of Man? - Job 25

This is a puzzling question. If you do not understand something in the Bible, the best way to find the answer is to read the Bible. There will be another verse that clarifies the meaning of the part you are stuck on. Cross-referencing Bible verses with each other is one of the best methods of study you can do. Let us tackle this question by looking at different verses from the Word of God. Again and again Jesus refers to Himself as the Son of Man: Mark 2:10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” Mark 9:31 For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men and they will kill him. And after He is killed He will rise the third day.” Mark 14:62 “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 24:44 “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” What d

Do you have an urge to evangelize but find yourself weak at the knees when it comes to speaking up for Christ? As Christians we should all know the joy of the Lord and seek to spread that joy with others, but it is easy to become frustrated or even complacent because on most occasions that desire, no matter how strong, will be thwarted by our fears.  “I do want to speak our but what do I say?” “I do want to speak out, but what difference could I possibly make?” “I do want to speak out, but I am scared those I speak with will react badly.” “I do want to speak out, but what if they ask me a question that I don’t know the answer to?”  All of these questions can usually be generalized into two thoughts. The first; “I am scared.” The second; “I don’t know what to say”. “I am scared” Too right you are and so you should be. We have a responsibility on this earth to spread the Gospel of Christ. This is a serious responsibility and certainly not one that should be taken lightly.

What's so special about us?

What is so special about our generation? What is so special about our era in time. There are said to be seven dispensations throughout the Bible. Dispensation is defined as ‘a certain order system or arrangement’. Each dispensation represents a different stage in God’s dealing with us. This is not a post on dispensationalism. Briefly, the seven dispensations are commonly regarded to be: The dispensation of innocence : Pre-fall of man. The dispensation of conscience : From the fall to the flood. This era shows what happens when mankind is left to their own conscience. The dispensation of government : This is from Noah to Abraham and represents the era when mankind are instructed to inhabit all of the world, culminating in the Tower of Babel where God introduces different languages so that mankind is scattered and forms different nations. The dispensation of Promise : This is the promise of God to the Israelites given to Abraham. This starts the process of God’s redempt

Sin and Smoking

Note: This is not a post on how smoking is a sin… smoke away. I do not smoke. When I smell the smell of cigarette smoke I feel sick. It is repugnant to my nostrils. If I am in the presence of a smoker I find myself coughing and spluttering for the smoke is completely foreign to my body. However, to a smoker they do not feel repulsed by the overpowering smell and actually enjoy being around it. They suck it directly into their lungs and enjoy it. It is common knowledge that smoking is bad for you, yet to those who smoke the pleasure of the cigarette outweighs the dangers of smoking. Some smokers have smoked for so long that although they have come to hate their dependence on smoking, they find themselves addicted and cannot stop. This is just like God and His relationship with us. God cannot stand the repugnant smell of sin, but we, who have sinned stink of it. Romans 3:23 tells us that ‘All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God’. We are surrounded by a sinful
